The Elmira Sugar Kings are proud to welcome Jon Jutzi back to the organization as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming season.

For Jutzi, this opportunity represents a return to where much of his hockey journey began. A Sugar Kings defenceman from 2007 to 2009, he was a key member of the organization before embarking on a successful playing and coaching career that has taken him through the NCAA, professional hockey, and the Ontario Hockey League.

Originally from Tavistock and now making his home in nearby Kitchener, Jutzi enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Minnesota State University (Mankato) before playing more than 100 professional games in the AHL and ECHL.

Most recently, Jutzi served as an Assistant Coach with the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL, where he worked closely with elite young players and gained valuable experience at one of Canada’s highest levels of junior hockey.

Jutzi’s return to Elmira is a true full-circle moment. Having once worn the Sugar Kings jersey himself, he understands the pride, tradition, and expectations that come with being part of the organization. He now returns eager to help the next generation of Sugar Kings grow both on and off the ice.

Head Coach Cory McRae echoed the excitement of the organization, saying: “Adding someone with Jon’s background, experience, and understanding of the game will be a tremendous asset for our players and our organization.”
